Expat Hair Disasters! Finding the Best Salon in Kuala Lumpur (Hint, it’s Toni&Guy Mont Kiara)
Anyone who has travelled for long periods of time, migrated across county or state lines, or moved abroad knows how frustrating it can be to find a new hair salon. Well, then multiply that hell by about 10 if you’re a blonde moving to a country without ONE SINGLE natural blonde. I was pretty lucky on my most recent move to Malaysia because I found the best salon in Kuala Lumpur for blondes after only one near miss (ehem, having to stand up from the chair and leave one salon). After that I called Toni&Guy Mont Kiara, which I should have done in the first place and they turned out to be seriously the best. The below pics are from the last 10 days (since my last visit) with my hair in natural or indoor light.
My Nightmares in Spain & India
Most expats have hair horror stories and of course I made the mistake of staying in the chair a few times when logic told me to get the hell outta there! The 1st time it led to me having the strangest salon experience of my life. The 2nd to having orange hair, and the 3rd to having it the colour of a lemon. Not my best looks to say the least.
My Top 3 Funny Hair Horror Stories:
Best Salon in Kuala Lumpur
Honestly, I just want to give the biggest shout out to Elaine the salon director at Toni&Guy Mont Kiara who is always patient with me whenever we try something new (it’s like I have PTSD from the above horror stories and I am not a chilled client!!). I wouldn’t go anywhere else but Toni&Guy Mont Kiara and highly recommend the place.
Two visits ago we started using Olaplex and my hair is now in better shape than it has been in YEARS! It’s an amazing add-on to the highlights process that protects and even repairs the hair. My hair stays silky smooth and healthy almost until my next appointment now, which was NEVER the case before Olaplex.
Contact Toni&Guy Mont Kiara
Toni&Guy Mont Kiara really is the best, it’s super easy to find, and Publika has lots of parking. They have amazing products as well, so it’s a one-stop shop. Each visit I buy my hair spray and shampoo there (I still use the less expensive conditioner from the shops), and on my last visit I even bought a new travel-sized straightening iron. I know that all of their stylists are fabulous (my Mommy even went to them when she was here on holiday) and I don’t know what I would do without them now.
